another incredible Pineda famous name and place piece -- the sets, make-up, wardrobe, diet, drugs, phone books, police log, and cell block. following the career of David Winters and stars that lit his life could be a great bio-pic or maybe just an extended slide show to make everybody's heart throb, all the celebrities that really moved me and were ahead of things.

SHORT STORY connected to this piece: I was working at a head shop on Fairfax Avenue in Hollywood across the street from Cantor's Delicatessen, a lot of artists would come in there to get papers and stuff. I started talking to one guy who came in who was the type of person you saw around there who only came out at night. This guy was cool, kind of quiet but he knew everybody in Hollywood, somehow he had a picture with him of a party he had just gone to he showed me, he was standing there with Bob Dylan and some other people. I don't know what we were talking about but I mentioned Sal Mineo, he told me that a month earlier leaving some club or something on their way somewhere, he and Sal Mineo, Elliot Mintz, and one other guy were cutting across town through an alleyway at 2 in the morning and they suddenly got blocked off by a gang of thugs at one end. Before they could turn and run the six guys wearing black leather jackets and carrying chains beat the shit out of them, throwing them to the ground and kicking them and then fled. The story really shocked me and I could see the whole thing, I knew what the atmosphere was like in the alleyways around there, a kind of quiet and emptiness where anything could happen; "who was it though," I asked, "who were those guys?" It was the Hell's Angels he said, they saw four effeminate men who were defenseless and said, let's get them.
