Hi Simon,
This is Cathy Cassady, Neal's oldest daughter.
I read with interest your article about the Beats’ influence and involvement in different countries and languages.
Since my father travelled to Mexico many times, and died on the railroad tracks in San Miguel de Allende, I had always wanted to take a pilgrimage to that village.
I got my chance in 2017 when I volunteered at the annual writers' conference in San Miguel. I spent two weeks there. It was a moving and profound experience on many levels.
If you have not attended that conference, I highly recommend it. They are planning on holding an in-person conference in 2023.
I have written about that experience. If you would be interested in reading it I would be more than happy to share it.
Thank you,
Cathy

Hi Cathy,
Great to hear from you.
I would love to read your story. Can you share it? Might I be able to run an excerpt at Rock and the Beat Generation?
Maybe I could post your letter to me as a piece of correspondence at the site. What do you think?
Best wishes,
Simon
Connecting to one's family history in such a concrete way is a wonderful thing to do. It enriches our lives and engages our imagination through such stories. I hope Cathy will allow you to share some excerpts.
