Village gossip: Kerouac novel soundtracked
David Amram’s musical take on On the Road links with actors, poets and writers who perform the text
WE WROTE and published a piece in recent days on the Village Trip, a two-week New York City festival celebrating the artistic, political and cultural life of one of Manhattan‘s most vibrant cultural neighbourhoods.
The event, the fifth such celebration, runs from September 10th-25th, 2022, but this is a date occurring midway through the schedule, on Saturday, September 17th, part of the ‘Kerouac at 100’ theme.
‘On the Road: Reading with Music’ includes oral contributions from John Ventimiglia and Mercedes Ruehl and others and musical settings by Beat musical veteran David Amram.
This looks amazing. I got to work with David Amram when he backed me up at last year's beat festival. The guy is the goods!
