Cheers, Simon- the book looks like it will be interesting, and the author is doubtless qualified. But do we have any info yet (as far as you know) whether the estate executors have given her access to any new or unpublished archival docs or other info? I am assuming it will more of a pop culture bio rather than one written from a literature perspective but I will be happy to be proven wrong. I cannot imagine how the reader new to Kerouac, or young generations of today (especially outside of the US) look at him. The misunderstandings have been chronic and compounded by societal changes, partly driven by the industry of celebrity that Jack never wanted any part of. Anyway, thanks for the tip and happy holidays.

Good questions, Chris, that I cannot answer categorically, except to say Holly George-Warren is a serious and very good journalist, whose previous biographies – maybe setting aside the Dolly Parton memoir, which is a different affair, I think – have attracted critical plaudits. I’m very hopeful that the JK to come will achieve similar purchase. Simon
