Heath Common would have loved your comment, from psychedelia to Catholicism and transatlantic sport, all subjects of huge interest to the late poet. Bravo, sir!

I knew Bill Byford many years ago when he asked me to produce The Rhythm Sisters album. I also played guitar and keyboards. on it, took promotional photo’s of the girls and created a promotional video for the band. Bill was quite a character, adept at self-promotion and not averse to an old school music business scam or two. He was amusing and persuasive, charming and, sometimes, frustrating. He loved name dropping, talking about the musicians he knew, much of which I took with a pinch of salt, though I later found out that some of it was true. But I remember with fondness the time I spent working on The Rhythm Sisters project, it was very creative and a lot of fun. Sadly,I too have lost many dear friends over the last few years, many of them musicians. Those of us of a certain age have come into our ‘coda’ years, or have hit the end stops. How quickly we arrive at the doors of oblivion. Time travels at higher speeds than we perceive, we must make the most of it. Rest in peace Bill Byford.

A true English Beat original. I was very much in awe when we met. His mark was made, his legacy to us all secure.

Hi Bill, Nelson that is – Thank you so much for sharing your memories of Heath Common/Bill Byford. I think that you and I knew him over a similar time span. He did speak about working it with you although I was not aware, I must confess, that you were part of the Rhythm Sisters project. Very interesting. Heath always spoke warmly of your brother Ian, another musician with whom he collaborated, of course. I hope that your own life and your creative pursuits continue to bear fruit. Although we haven't seen each other for a while, our own friendship is not forgotten. Your contribution to this thread appreciated. Simon
