I sit and watch as tears go by.. a symbol of my halcyon youth - as the old surrealist axiom proclaims:the only thing forbidden is to forbid..an elegant elegy- our fallen heroes did not live and die in vain- they live on in music, cinema and literature in sweet memories of dulcet kisses and everlasting friendship- sleep and dream forevermore beautiful Princess
A most excellent and moving elegy for Marianne Faithful, an artist truly in and of life. You catalogue the ups and downs, her resilience and enduring contribution marvelously. I had the good pleasure of seeing the opening of her show As Years Go By at the American Repertory Theater, a wonderful working of cabaret songs from the Weimar Era and other material. Standing along on stage in simple black garb she held the audience rapt, communicating a tender vulnerability, empathy and life learned wisdom that I will not forget. Later on I loved and listened often to the album filled with PJ Harvey songs that she recorded as she moved into the later stages of her career.

Sweet words, Jose.
Fond memories of a golden age
A superb and heartfelt tribute in its own right, Marc. Thank you for saying those things.
