Thank you for this fascinating "Book review" which reveals so much more to me about Harry Smith than I knew, from his curiosity and respect for Native american and other Indigenous cultures, to his jazz side, his spirituality, his poverty, his films, the spark that helped light the way for "And Now for Something Completely Different" and so much more.

Yes, Linda, Harry Smith is a name that crops up so often, but I think this well-received biography is going to help us understand his place in 20th century cultural history more clearly. Glad you enjoyed Steven Taylor’s review.

I read John's superb book a couple of times to write a review. Simply because of the subject, it's a challenging book to get to grips with. Steven not only does so masterfully, he adds a personal perspective that makes this review a excellent read. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks, David. I haven’t read the book yet myself but, with these glowing recommendations, I think I should.
